Is a town and lake port in northwestern Tanzania, on the northeastern shores of Lake Tanganyika and close to the border with Burundi and The Democratic Republic of the Congo. It serves as the capital for the surrounding Kigoma Region. Kigoma is the hub for chimpanzee trekking safaris in Tanzania.

Visiting Lake Tanganyika:
Lake Tanganyika is the world’s longest (660km), deepest in Africa and second-deepest in the world (more than 1436m), and the second-largest (by volume) freshwater lake.
Visiting Gombe national park:
Located on the western border of Tanzania and the Congo is most famous for Jane Goodall, the resident primatologist who spent many years in its forests studying the behavior of the endangered chimpanzees.
Visiting Mahale national park:
Like its northerly neighbor, Gombe is home to some of Africa’s last remaining wild chimpanzees, a population of roughly 900, they are habituated to human visitors by a Japanese research project founded in the 1960s, you can also see the Mahale range mountains and do a lot of lake activities in the Tanganyika.
Visit the Livingstone museum:
Is a reminder of a self-dedicated missionary who went to Ujiji, Kigoma and his mission was to reach new peoples in Africa and introduce them to Christianity, as well as free them from slavery.

Getting to Kigoma:
You can get to Kigoma by taking a flight, bus, or train from Dar es Salaam, however, you can also take a bus from nearby regions of Mwanza, Tabora, Shinyanga e.t.c.
