Important Notes on Cost
Crew Tips
Tips are not included in the cost but are a crucial part of local income. We recommend USD $250–$400 total (split across guides, assistant guides, cooks, and porters). We provide guidance on the mountain.
Gear Rental
You do not need to bring all equipment from home. Quality sleeping bags, trekking poles, and gaiters can be rented in Moshi for a fraction of the purchase price.
Visa Costs
Most nationalities pay ~$50 USD for a Tanzania tourist visa, obtainable on arrival or via the Tanzania Immigration e-visa portal.
Book Early
Peak season (July–September) slots fill up 4–6 months in advance. Earlier booking also allows time to train, acquire gear, and organise insurance.
